Goldener Hirsch is a highly rated European-style inn known for exceptional staff who provide warm, attentive service and a cozy, authentic atmosphere. Guests consistently praise the high-quality dining and convenient access to outdoor activities, though some note the room style is dated. Despite a conflict regarding luxury expectations, the property's hospitality and amenities make it a memorable destination.
Our stay at Goldener Hirsch was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding—attentive, warm, and accommodating in every possible way. Although our room had a charmingly dated feel, it provided exactly the cozy and authentic atmosphere we were seeking. One of the highlights of our visit was the incredible dining experience. Executive Chef Krishnamurthy personally ensured our dietary preferences were met, preparing delicious plant-based meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner that surpassed our expectations. Highlights included an unforgettable fondue and a decadent chocolate cake—both completely plant-based and incredibly flavorful. Convenience was another major plus; skiing access was effortless with slopes just steps away from the hotel. After a day on the mountain, it was wonderful to unwind in the hotel's well-equipped gym. Additionally, the location made it easy to explore the beautiful surroundings, offering plenty of activities both on and off the slopes. Goldener Hirsch perfectly blends traditional charm with exceptional hospitality, making it a place we'd gladly return to and highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Staff couldn't be better! They have a winning team from top on down. Made our 4 days very pleasant, especially with staying with young children.
High end authentic European style restaurant. This feels like you’re in the Alps of Switzerland, Bavaria or somewhere like that. The duck entree and French onion soup were very good. Our service was also very fast. I’d recommend coming here for upscale, hearty European food.
It’s completely misleading to call this place an Auberge resort, it feels more like an upscale motel. First off, the standard rooms are absolutely tiny. In terms of amenities, the gym is subpar with only a couple machines and free weights. There is no spa. The dining room is under construction so the only place to get any food is a small cramped lounge. There is no table service but rather you order at a counter. There is only food available until 9p for dinner and no in-room dining after, so if you miss that window you have to order in delivery. The only redeaming quality of this hotel is the staff who are very nice, but I’m sorry for them they have to deal with customers who are upset expecting an upscale property experience only to find they’ve instead booked at essentially a quick-service operation with absolutely no luxury feel.
I wish it were possible to give 6 stars instead of 5. This was by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at because of the EXCEPTIONAL service from the staff! The team goes above and beyond making sure you are well taken care of your whole stay. From Christoph leaving us homemade cookies and chocolates in our room to Alex anticipating all our transportation needs to Harold making us the most lovely food and drinks - and even giving my girls hats from the hotel. We were treated with genuine care and connection our entire trip. Plus, the activities were phenomenal: pretzel making, a sound bath, yoga, and even horseback riding. I would HIGHLY recommend Goldener Hirsch.
